Maintain your car – Road safety doesn’t matter much when your car isn’t working, so have your car inspected before you travel. Also, make sure to have at least half a tank of gas at all times so you don’t get stranded.
Emergency supplies – You should make sure to be prepared for the worst case by keeping blankets, gloves, a flashlight, jumper cables, and things like kitty litter or sand to help if you need to get yourself out of a tough spot.
Reduce stress – The holidays are great and can be stressful, so make sure to sleep well and avoid aggressive drivers so you are able to drive with a clear and rested mind.
Plan ahead – Make sure you know where you are going and have some form of navigation, whether it is a GPS or a paper map. If your trip is longer, plan to make a pit stop to stretch and rest before continuing. Getting lost cannot only set you back, but you can get very stressed too. The same goes for taking breaks as it can inhibit your reaction time.
