Getting Your Home Prepped for Winter

You may not notice any issues with your house this fall and upcoming winter season. But, if you want to save yourself from any hassles in the near future, you should be wary of what can become a problem. The temperatures are dropping and you’re getting ready for the Thanksgiving season and other family functions you may have planned, why let home maintenance issues take the fun away?

One of the biggest nuisances we deal with year-round can be pests. This includes small rodents, bugs, and any other invaders that stumble into our homes. Not only will you want to clean all the rooms of your house, but also be sure to try and find any entryways for pests. If you need extra help, call an exterminator, use bug bombs, or other services to clear out your home.

Have trees on your property? Remember to clear all gutters before winter sets in, leaves can block water drainage that can freeze and allow water back-up into your home.

Another issue that comes up during the fall season is an easier time for criminals to break into your house. Some ways to prevent a break-in include checking all your doors and windows, leave a car at home if you’re able, or get a security service.

Lastly, it may not seem like a big deal, but cleaning both the inside and outside of your house can benefit you for the long run. Wind, snow, and moisture can do damage that is hard to see in the coming days of curtailed daylight.

We’re already busy enough in our lives, why let issues at home be added to the list? If you find that you need to file an insurance claim, don’t hesitate to reach out.
