Preparing For Vacation

By Iris Dalia Pantoja

The weather is perfect, the kids are out of school and you need to get away from it all and recharge your batteries. What does that mean? It’s time for a ‘VACATION’; yes a vacation! Whether is for a few days or a few weeks, across town or across the nation, summer is the perfect time to do it.

Now before you go on vacation there are a few tips to help you prepare before you are on your way. Follow these tips and I guarantee that you will really enjoy your vacation.

Tip #1 – Let a neighbor know that you will be out of town and ask them to keep an eye on your home. If possible, provide them with the best contact to reach you in case of an emergency.

Tip #2 – Turn off water valves to the sinks and appliances, like the washer and dishwasher.

Tip #3 – Unplug small appliances but leave an emergency light on so that your home looks occupied in the evening.

Tip #4 – If going away for a few weeks stop your newspaper subscription and have someone you trust pick up your mail.

Tip #5 – Stop by or call us to have your homeowners insurance revised to make sure that you have the proper coverage on your property for that peace of mind when you’re away.

We, at Rothenberger Insurance Services, hope that this tips will help you better prepare for that well deserved vacation.

Have a great and safe summer!
